What Aussies say

Don't take our word for it

From 538 Trustpilot reviews and 1,496 TripAdvisor reviews.

“Kurt sorted our 2-week Vietnam trip top to bottom. Every hotel was a cracker, guides were switched on, and the food — mate, the food. Way better value than our Bali trips. Already planning to go back.”

“We flew from Melbourne to Hanoi, did the whole north-to-south route over 14 days. Ha Long Bay cruise was unreal. Hoi An was our favourite — the cooking class alone was worth the trip. Can't fault TSA.”

“Third time using Travel Sense Asia. This time we did Vietnam + Cambodia over 3 weeks. The local guides are genuinely knowledgeable, not reading from a script. Worth every cent.”

Good questions

Before you book

Do Australians need a visa for Vietnam?

Australians need an e-visa, which is straightforward to get online. It costs about US$25, takes 3 business days, and gives you 90 days with multiple entries. We'll send you the exact link and walk you through it when you book.

What are the direct flight options from Australia?

VietJet and Vietnam Airlines fly direct from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Flight time is roughly 8–9 hours. Plenty of one-stop options via Singapore or Bangkok too, often cheaper.

How far does the Aussie dollar go in Vietnam?

Very far. A$1 gets you roughly 17,000 VND. A proper sit-down meal is A$5–8, a craft beer is A$2, and a 4-star hotel runs about A$60–80/night. It's genuinely one of the best value destinations in Asia.

Is Vietnam safe for Australian travellers?

Yes. Vietnam is consistently rated as one of the safest countries in Southeast Asia for tourists. Petty theft can happen in crowded areas (like anywhere), but violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. Our guides and drivers are with you throughout.

When is the best time to visit?

Vietnam stretches 1,650km, so weather varies by region. Generally: North (Oct–Apr is dry and cool), Central (Feb–May), South (Dec–Apr). But there's always somewhere good to visit year-round. Kurt can help you pick the best dates for your itinerary.

How does the tailor-made process work?

Simple: you tell us your dates, budget, and what you're keen on. Kurt sends you a custom itinerary within 24 hours. You can tweak it as many times as you like — no charge. Once you're happy, you pay a deposit (refundable up to 60 days out) and we lock everything in.

What about dietary requirements and allergies?

Vietnamese cuisine is naturally diverse and accommodating. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — we handle it all. Just let Kurt know upfront and every restaurant will be briefed.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend it. All our packages include basic coverage worth up to VND 10 million (~A$600), but we suggest supplementing with your own comprehensive policy from an Australian provider for full peace of mind.
