Two new 2026 rules to know: your passport must have at least 6 months' validity (enforced from 1 March 2026), and a Digital Arrival Card is now required at Ho Chi Minh City (from 15 April 2026), lodged within 72 hours of arrival. VietJet and Vietnam Airlines fly direct from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Flight time is roughly 8–9 hours. Plenty of one-stop options via Singapore or Bangkok too, often cheaper.
