Day 1: Luang Prabang - Arrival

Day 1: Luang Prabang - Arrival

Welcome to Luang Prabang, Laos! Sitting at the sacred confluence of the Mekong River and the Nam Khan (Khan River), Luang Prabang was the former royal capital of Laos. In this UNESCO-protected town, time seems to stand still, evidenced by the 33 gilded stupas gracing the skyline, the sight of saffron-clad monks on the streets at dawn, and the elegant Indochinese villas that remind of a colonial era long gone.

Upon arrival at the airport, our guide and driver will be waiting to greet and take you to your hotel. Later, you’ll have the opportunity to partake in a private Baci ceremony with a local family. This ritual involves the tying of white cotton strings around your wrist for the bestowing of good luck, happiness, and prosperity. Following the ceremony, you’ll receive a blessed cotton bracelet, imbued with prayers for a safe and unforgettable journey ahead. This intimate experience not only offers a profound insight into Lao traditions but also allows you to connect with the local community.
