AYUBOWAN! Welcome to Sri Lanka, The Pearl of the Indian Ocean. Upon arrival in the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, you will be greeted by your Chauffeur guide and transferred directly to Sigiriya. Sit back and enjoy the drive surrounded by great scenery, journeying through the local villages, small towns, coconut plantations, paddy fields and small forest patches.

After the hotel check-in, you can spend the rest of your day enjoying the town by yourself.

Day 2: Sigiriya - Rock Fortress

Morning:
We’ll ascend the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a striking marvel rising from Sri Lanka’s central plains. This dramatic outcrop, crowned with ancient ruins, is reached by near-vertical staircases that pass by stunning frescoes. The breathtaking views from the summit enhance the allure of this extraordinary site.

Afternoon:
Village tour in Habarana rural village. To understand the real Sri Lankan rural life, we’ll have a orientation journey with a traditional bullock cart ride, a trip across the lakes on a native catamaran, and interactions with farmers and villagers. A typical home-cooked supper is served at one of the locals’ homes to round off a delectable excursion.

Day 3: Kandy - Dambulla Cave Temple

Day 3: Kandy - Dambulla Cave Temple

Morning:
We’ll head to the beautiful city of Kandy, located on a plateau surrounded by mountains. En route, we’ll make a stop at Dambulla Cave Temple. This site features five caves housing around 150 breathtaking Buddha statues and paintings, showcasing some of Sri Lanka’s most significant religious art. These Buddha images, originally created over 2000 years ago, have been enhanced and enriched by successive kings over the centuries.

Afternoon:
Next, we’ll visit the Matale Spice Garden, home to Sri Lankan treasures like turmeric, pepper, and cardamom. Afterward, we’ll explore the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a stunning Buddhist temple within the royal palace complex of ancient Kandy, where legend says the Buddha’s tooth is enshrined.

Day 4: Kandy - Peradeniya Botanical Garden

Morning:
Start your day with a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, located just 5.5 km west of Kandy. Nestled near the Mahaweli River, these gardens are renowned for their exquisite orchid collection. Enjoy a peaceful stroll among the lush greenery and marvel at the diverse plant species.

Afternoon:
Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka by attending the Kandy cultural show. This vibrant performance showcases traditional arts, dances, and rituals, including the graceful movements of birds and animals inspired by the ancient kohomba kankariya ceremony. As the day draws to a close, head to Kandy Lake for a romantic sunset stroll. Known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, this serene artificial lake in the heart of Kandy offers a tranquil setting, perfect for reflecting on the day’s experiences while enjoying the beautiful twilight.

Say goodbye to Kandy as we’ll take a 3-hour train ride to Nuwara Eliya. Often referred to as “Little England,” Nuwara Eliya is a charming city nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka’s central highlands. This picturesque destination is renowned for its cool, misty climate, lush tea plantations, and colonial-era architecture. Visitors are drawn to its breathtaking landscapes, including serene lakes, cascading waterfalls, and the world-famous Ceylon tea gardens. Nuwara Eliya is a perfect escape for those seeking respite from the island’s tropical heat and a taste of its colonial heritage.

We’ll start the day with a visit to Horton Plains National Park. Horton Plains is the only national park in Sri Lanka where visitors are allowed to walk freely inside. The climate here is a wet montane climate with a mean annual temperature of 15 centigrade. Horton Plains is famous for World’s End, a stunning viewpoint, which is a sheer drop of 870 meters hidden in clouds.

Afternoon:
We’ll transfer to Ella and go through the tea carpets of Ceylon. Along the way, visit Nine Arches Bridge, one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in Sri Lanka. It is located in the Demodara area between Ella and Demodara railway stations.

Day 7: Ella - Adam's Peak Hike

Did you know that Ella is a popular trekking destination in Sri Lanka’s mountainous terrain? Some of the views from Ella walks are stunning, and the region is widely renowned for its tea plantations and spectacular mountain ranges. Á short hike to Adam’s Peak is ideal for an incredible sunset and to experience some of the best views without having to hike for hours.

Afternoon:
We’ll visit Ravana Falls, which is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka. It currently ranks as one of the widest falls in the country. The falls have been named after the legendary king Ravana, which is connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to legend, it is said that Ravana (who was the king of Sri Lanka at the time) had kidnapped princess Sita, and had hidden her in the caves behind this waterfall.

Day 8: Tissamaharama - Yala National Park

Morning:
To get a touch of thrilling adventure, we’ll visit Yala National Park, located in the southern region of Sri Lanka. Yala National Park is a celebrated wildlife sanctuary and a top destination for nature enthusiasts. Covering approximately 900 square kilometers, it boasts diverse ecosystems, from dense forests to arid plains.

Afternoon:
Later, you’ll spend the rest of your day in a lodge amid the pristine forest. Since we’re nestled near a natural conservation area, it’s crucial to treat nature with utmost care and responsibility. Actions such as littering, starting fires, trimming foliage, or altering the landscape should be avoided at all costs.

You wake up early for a dawn safari, eager to visit Yala National Park at its quietest. The early morning light is perfect for spotting nocturnal animals returning to their resting spots. As the sun rises, we’ll also approach Block 1, known for its significant leopard population – offering a rare opportunity to observe and capture photos of these majestic creatures. Moreover, as we traverse the rugged terrain in a Jeep, keep watch for elephants, sloth bears, and a host of other fascinating wildlife species.

Afternoon:
Get ready for even more excitement as we explore the beautiful water holes in the park. You’ll see mugger crocodiles, painted storks, and maybe even spot the elusive black-necked stork! After an adventure-packed day, we’ll head back to our cozy lodge.

Say goodbye to the untouched nature of Tissamaharama, we’ll transfer to Galle. Along the way, we may catch a glimpse of stilt fishing practices. It’s an age-old tradition along Sri Lankan southern coast, where you’ll see old fishermen sitting on stilts instead of boats. They stick to the calm waters near the shore, unlike the rough seas they used to tackle when they were younger.

Afternoon:
Upon arrival in Galle, we can see a coastal city possessing a fascinating fusion of history and modernity. Its crowning jewel is the Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing Dutch colonial architecture amidst a backdrop of the Indian Ocean.
