Day 1: Hanoi - Arrival & City tour

Day 1: Hanoi - Arrival & City tour

Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Upon arrival, it’s time to explore some of Hanoi’s highlights in the city centre. We’ll start at Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum to delve into the inspiring legacy of ‘Uncle Ho’, Vietnam’s beloved former leader. Next, a visit to his traditional stilt house nearby will provide insights into his presidential years during wartime. Following our exploration is the unique architecture of One Pillar Pagoda, shaped like a lotus blossom.

Then, we’ll hop aboard a cyclo and meander through the bustling streets of the Old Quarter, passing by vibrant shops and street food stalls. Our journey continues at Hoan Kiem Lake, the icon of Hanoi, home to Ngoc Son Temple on Jade Island, accessed via The Huc Bridge. Concluding the tour is a complimentary Vietnamese Coffee experience at a hidden local café, where you can savor the specialty ‘Egg Coffee’. Enjoy some free time before hopping on an overnight train bound for Sapa in the northwest of Vietnam.

Day 2: Sapa - Lao Chai & Ta Van

Morning:
Awakening from your train journey, you arrive at Lao Cai station, followed by a short ride to Sapa. We’ll start by walking along the main road, treating you to stunning views of the Muong Hoa Valley. Descend through endless terraced fields, resembling long staircases, until we reach Y Linh Ho Hamlet, where the Black Hmong people reside. Follow the river to Lao Chai Village, surrounded by mountains, making it one of Sapa’s most picturesque villages.

Afternoon:
Our final stop is Ta Van Village, home to the Giay ethnic minority hill tribe. You’ll receive a warm welcome into their homes, where you can learn about their unique way of life over a cup of hot tea. Later, our comfortable car will transport you back to Sapa. You can spend your leisure time exploring the town and its surroundings.

Day 3: Sapa - Fansipan Peak

Morning:
Today we’ll conquer the highest peak in Vietnam, Fansipan Mountain. In the past, reaching the summit required two days of hard trekking, but now, thanks to the world’s longest cable car route, we can reach the ‘Roof of Indochina’ in just 15 minutes. As you board the cabin, you’ll soar above lush rice terraces and rugged cliffs, marveling at the breathtaking views through the expansive windows. Upon reaching the station, you’ll have the option to ascend the highest point via 630 stairs or a funicular rail. Once at the top, it’s time to capture the panorama of cloud-covered peaks stretching to the horizon.

Afternoon:
After lunch time, we return to the city centre of Hanoi. You can leisurely stroll through the charming old streets, enjoying the lively atmosphere of bustling locals. If you prefer a quieter vibe, our guide can lead you to tiny alleys tucked between street vendors, where you’ll discover the city’s hidden gems – secret upstairs cafes. Treat yourself to Hanoi’s renowned coffee while watching the scooters go by on the street below.

Day 4: Ninh Binh - Tam Coc & Bich Dong

Morning:
You’ll leave Hanoi for Ninh Binh, often called ‘Ha Long Bay on land’, known for its winding river flowing amidst towering limestone mountains. Upon arrival, you’ll visit Hoa Lu’s two remaining temples, both built with dark-red lacquered pillars. The first, Dinh Tien Hoang Temple, dates back to the 17th century and honors the Dinh dynasty. Inside, you’ll find bronze bells and a statue of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang, with the stone pedestal of a royal throne at the front. The second temple is dedicated to monarch Le Dai Hanh, who had great contributions in building and protecting the country in the 10th century.

Afternoon:
With a satisfied stomach, we’ll hop on a rowboat for a leisurely cruise along Ngo Dong River to Tam Coc, where vast paddy fields stretch out beneath the towering karst mountains. We will end the day with a visit to Bich Dong Grotto. Here, you will witness the stunning beauty of nature blending seamlessly with the ancient charm of Buddhist architecture. Afterwards, we’ll return to Hanoi.

Day 5: Ha Long Bay - Luxury cruise trip

Morning:
Let’s swap city bustle for serene seas today as we’re off on an exciting journey to Ha Long Bay. After a cozy ride in a private car to the port, you’ll check in and board a luxurious cruise, ready to reveal the untouched beauty of this UNESCO-listed natural wonder. Once the captain sets sail, it’s time to fill your tummy with a delicious lunch and feast your eyes with odd-shaped limestone pillars and hidden coves along the way.

Afternoon:
A bamboo boat awaits to cruise you to Pearl Farm, where you can go kayaking for a closer look at the majestic limestone formations. Then, you’ll be gently transferred to Sung Sot Cave, or Surprise Cave, one of Ha Long Bay’s largest caverns adorned with magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. When the sun sets, head back to the cruise for a breathtaking view from the top deck, followed by a traditional Vietnamese cooking class. Conclude the day with a delightful dinner and an overnight stay amidst the exotic landscape of Ha Long Bay.

Day 6: Ha Long Bay - Titov Island

Morning:
Waking up to the sunlight streaming through your windows, your day begins with a Tai-Chi session on deck and a warm breakfast after. Then, the cruise will transfer you to Titov Island, a small limestone island with one of the best sandy beaches in Ha Long Bay. You can immerse yourself in emerald water or hike to the top for stunning panoramic views. Afterwards, take a moment to unwind on deck and soak in the breathtaking landscape of the Ha Long Bay as we cruise back to the shore.

Afternoon:
Now, it’s time for some free-spirited exploration! You can spend your afternoon visiting any sights you didn’t get a chance to previously, like the Temple of Literature or Hoa Lo Prison. We also recommend checking out the water puppet shows – a delight for both young and old. And after a full day of activities, don’t forget to indulge in the street food paradise around Dong Xuan Market, where you can fill your stomach with the soul of Hanoi cuisine.
