Day 1: Kandy - Arrival

AYUBOWAN! Welcome to Sri Lanka, known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. Upon your arrival at the airport in Colombo, your guide will warmly welcome and escort you directly to Kandy.

Kandy, renowned for its ancient city and lush mid-grown tea, awaits your exploration. Discover the Giragama tea factory and plantation, where you’ll be guided through each operational step. From freshly harvested green leaves to finely graded, high-quality tea, witness the fascinating tea-making process firsthand. Conclude your tour in the delightful tasting room, where you can savor and purchase teas of your choice.

Day 2: Nuwara Eliya - Pedro Tea Estate

Morning:
Say goodbye to Kandy as we’ll have a 3-hour ride to Nuwara Eliya. Often referred to as “Little England,” Nuwara Eliya is a charming city nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka’s central highlands. In Nuwara Eliya’s high-altitude hills, tea plants endure slow growth due to colder temperatures, yielding smaller leaves. Yet, the region produces some of Sri Lanka’s finest teas, prized for their unique flavor imparted by the harsh conditions.

Afternoon:
Upon reaching Nuwara Eliya, our first stop is the historic Pedro Tea Estate. Established in 1885, Pedro Tea Estate boasts vintage machinery from the 19th century, where James Taylor grew his second tea plantation in Sri Lanka, igniting Ceylon tea’s legacy. We can witness the tea-making process, from cultivation to global export, amidst the scenic landscapes with cascading waterfalls and lush tea pastures. Conclude our day with a stop at the Spice Garden, uncovering the secrets of spice cultivation and their diverse uses in local cuisine and traditional medicine.

Day 3: Ella - Dambathannna Tea Estate

Morning:
From Nuwara Eliya, embark on a picturesque train journey to Haputale, where the lush tea carpets of Ceylon unfold before you. Today’s highlight is a visit to the Dambatenne Tea Estate, established in 1890 by Sir Thomas Lipton, a legendary figure in the world of tea. It’s renowned as one of the most comprehensive tea factory tours available, culminating in a delightful tasting of the famed Lipton cup of tea. You’ll be offered a fascinating insight into the intricate processes of tea production. Don’t miss capturing a photo with the Lipton Seat statue atop the tea hill.

Afternoon:
Continue your journey to Ella, where you’ll have the remainder of the day to unwind amidst its serene surroundings. Wander along Ella’s main street, lined with quaint cafes, souvenir shops, and local eateries offering delicious Sri Lankan cuisine.

Day 4: Ahangama - Handunugoda Tea Estate

Morning:
Leaving the cool mountain air behind, we journey south to the charming coastal town of Ahangama. Here, we pause at Handunugoda Estate, the exclusive tea plantation renowned for producing ‘virgin white tea’ in Sri Lanka’s coastal region. This estate stands out for its artisanal tea craftsmanship and exports premium luxury teas worldwide. You can enjoy a guided tour of the tea plantation and a tea appreciation session.

Afternoon:
After a day of travel, it’s time to unwind at your beachfront retreat. Relax on the pristine white sands, with the sunset casting golden hues over the shimmering waters. Here’s a little eco-tip for you: To minimize harm to the marine ecosystem, you should only use micro-sized or/and reef-safe certified mineral sunscreens.

Day 5: Colombo - Free & Easy

Let’s swap the soothing beach vibes for Colombo, Sri Lanka’s lively capital. Once you’re settled in at the hotel, take the rest of your day to explore the city on your own, especially the incredible local cuisine. Sri Lankan food is a flavorful blend of Indian, Southeast Asian, and Arabic influences, with a dash of colonial history. Dining out here is a treat, whether you’re savoring authentic rice and curry at a cozy cafe or digging into a hearty plate of kottu—chopped roti mixed with veggies and meat.

Day 6: Colombo - Departure

Your journey in Sri Lanka comes to its end. After breakfast today, you’ll get the morning to yourself – no scheduled activities. Whenever you’re ready to go, our attentive driver will be ready to take you to the airport, ensuring a seamless transition for your departing flight.
