Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Arrival

Welcome to the vibrant Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), previously known as Saigon. Just one generation ago, HCMC was a war zone. But now, the city has transformed to become a dynamic commercial hub with modern skyscrapers and lively streets. Yet it hasn’t forgotten its past! You can easily find serene pagodas and temples, where the smell of incense fills the air with peace. And if you’re eager to learn more about the city’s history, there are plenty of museums filled with artifacts, stories and memories.

No matter your flight schedule, our friendly guide and driver will warmly welcome you upon arrival and take you to your hotel in the city center. Once settling in, you will have a chance to explore HCMC at your leisure. Why don’t you start your first day in Vietnam with some local street food? HCMC is truly a melting pot of cuisines, combining ingredients and recipes from many different regions and cultures. If your taste buds need direction, allow us to suggest some must-try dishes like cơm tấm (broken rice), bánh xèo (crispy pancake), and the most iconic ốc (snails/shellfish).

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels & City tour

Morning:
Your day begins with an incredible journey to Cu Chi Tunnels. We’ll explore just a small part of this 250 km underground network built by Vietnamese back in the wartime. These massive tunnels were not only war shelters but also kitchens, hospitals, command centers and secret storages for food and weapons. While crawling through the tunnels, you’ll hear incredible stories about the Viet Cong guerrillas who lived, fought, or even sacrificed here during the Vietnam War. It’ll make you appreciate the peace we enjoy today even more.

Afternoon:
Let’s head back to the city center, and our guide will take you to the ChinaTown of HCMC, District 5. You’ll first explore Thien Hau Temple, well-known for its intricate architecture and grand coils of incense hanging overhead. Next, wander through Hao Si Phuong Alley, lined with old but colorful apartment buildings. You can also buy some souvenirs in the lively atmosphere of Binh Tay Market nearby. Our trip for today will end with a visit to Cha Tam Church, a symbol of religious harmony and cultural diversity in Vietnam, with a blend of Gothic and Chinese architecture.

Day 3: Mekong Delta - Village boat trip

Morning:
Journeying out of the city, today we head to the Mekong Delta. Did you know that Mekong Delta is often called as ‘Vietnam’s rice bowl’ because its fertile lands yield much of the country’s rice? When we arrive at Vinh Long, we’ll hop onto a boat and cruise along Mekong River to An Binh Island. Our first stop is the local cottage industries where we can taste some freshly made rice paper, coconut candy, and pop-rice right from the source. Later, you’ll be welcome to visit a local homestay with a huge orchand, allowing you to pluck fruits straight from the trees. The host’ll treat you to a delicious traditional lunch, with mouthwatering Mekong specialties.

Afternoon:
Once our bellies are full, it’s time to return to the shore and explore the village of hundred-year-old brick kilns. You’ll see the whole process of traditional brickmaking and pottery crafting up close. Then, get back to our boat and glide through the maze of small canals, fully immersing yourself into the simple yet heartwarming lifestyle of the Mekong people. As the day winds down, we’ll hit the road and return to HCMC.

Day 4: Whale Island - Free & Easy

Morning:
After breakfast, we’ll head to the airport for a flight to Vietnam’s golden coastal city, Nha Trang. Upon arrival, our driver will take you to the tropical paradise of Whale Island! The next three days are all about this untouched, private getaway in the famous Van Phong Bay of Nha Trang. You’ll stay at the only eco-resort on the island, Whale Island Resort, escaping urban chaos and diving into the beauty of nature.

Afternoon:
With waves lapping at your feet, there’s a ton of water fun waiting for you on Whale Island. But let’s take it easy today. How about some sunbathing, a refreshing swim, or simply wandering around the resort, soaking up the soothing sounds of swaying coconut trees and the salty breeze?

Day 5: Whale Island - Free & Easy

Morning:
Did you know that Whale Island has been featured in top publications like Forbes and CNN as a ‘Must-Visit Diving Destination’? So why not make today all about exploring life beneath the waves? Feel free to ask the resort about their scuba diving or snorkeling services (exclusive). Here’s a little eco-tip for you: To minimize harm to the marine ecosystem, you should only use micro-sized or/and reef-safe certified mineral sunscreens.

Once you’re all set, follow the boat to the protected dive site and then jump into the crystal-clear ocean. You’ll be absolutely amazed by the stunning coral reefs down there – vibrantly colorful and well-preserved. Just remember, admire them from a distance and resist the urge to touch!

Afternoon:
You’ve splashed around all morning, so let’s have some beach fun for this afternoon like gathering for a volleyball match or practicing yoga on the sand. Or if you’re feeling chill, simply enjoy the sunset with some cocktails at the beach bar.

Day 6: Whale Island - Free & Easy

Morning:
For your last day on Whale Island, we recommend exploring the amazing ecosystem just behind the resort. You can ask the receptionist for a map, then follow the trails for a little trekking adventure. After wandering through the forest, surrounded by thousands of trees and the cheerful chirping of birds, you’ll eventually reach the highest point on Whale Island. From up there, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of Van Phong Bay. It’s totally worth your effort!

Afternoon:
Take it easy and experience the vibes of Whale Island at your own pace. Just like many guests before you, you can take some time to explore and learn about the sustainable practices of your resort, which have been carefully developed over the past 20 years. Simply ask the staff to guide you to the solar panel system, which provides all the electricity used on the island. It’ll make your stay here even more special.

Day 7: Hanoi - City tour

Morning:
It’s time to say goodbye to Whale Island for the flight to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital city. Upon arrival, our friendly guide and driver will warmly welcome you and take you to your hotel in the city center. Once settling in, it’s time for a journey through Hanoi’s fascinating history and rich culture.

Afternoon:
We’ll start at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, unveiling the cultural diversity of 54 ethnic groups across Vietnam. Discover a treasure trove of ethnic artifacts and items collected from North to South. Stepping outside, you’ll find stunning architectural replicas of houses, community halls, and even tombs. It’ll feel like you’ve been transported right into the heart of ethnic villages, gaining insight into into their daily activities and spiritual beliefs. Then, we return to the city centre for a cyclo through the bustling streets of the Old Quarter, passing by vibrant shops and street food stalls. Our journey concludes at Hoan Kiem Lake, home to Ngoc Son Temple on Jade Island, accessed via the iconic The Huc Bridge. Afterwards, the day is yours to explore!

Day 8: Ha Long Bay - Luxury cruise trip

Morning:
Let’s swap city bustle for serene seas today! This morning, we’re off on an exciting journey to Ha Long Bay. After a cozy ride in a private car to the port, you’ll check in and board a luxurious cruise, ready to reveal the untouched beauty of this UNESCO-listed natural wonder. Once the captain sets sail, it’s time to fill your tummy with a delicious lunch and feast your eyes with odd-shaped limestone pillars and hidden coves along the way.

Afternoon:
As the cruise approaches the heart of Ha Long, a variety of thrilling activities are waiting for you. You can go kayaking for a closer look at the majestic limestone formations, or simply jump into the emerald waters for a refreshing swim. When the sun sets, you’ll head back to the cruise for a breathtaking view from the top deck, followed by a traditional Vietnamese cooking class.

Conclude the day with a delightful dinner and an overnight stay amidst the exotic landscape. And for those craving even more fun, how about joining the cruise staff for midnight squid fishing? Who knows, we might just reel in some squid for a late-night party!

Day 9: Ha Long Bay - Surprise Cave

Morning:
Waking up to the melody of waves lapping against the cruise, your day begins with a Tai-Chi session on deck and a warm breakfast later. Then, you’ll be gently transferred to Sung Sot Cave, or Surprise Cave, one of Ha Long Bay’s largest caverns adorned with magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. After the cave exploration, save this time to soak in the panoramic bay views as we cruise back to the shore.

Afternoon:
Now, it’s time for some free-spirited exploration! You can spend your afternoon visiting any sights you didn’t get a chance to previously, like the Temple of Literature or Hoa Lo Prison. We also recommend checking out the water puppet shows – a delight for both young and old. And after a full day of activities, don’t forget to indulge in the street food paradise around Dong Xuan Market, where you can fill your stomach with the soul of Hanoi cuisine.

Day 10: Hanoi - Departure
